Phuket in the Month of April

It's hot and getting hotter by the day during the month of April in Thailand. Before long the May to October monsoons will be upon us but until then the best place to be is at the beach or in an air-conditioned room.

But the heat doesn't deter many people coming to Phuket for Phuket Bike Week, from the 9th to the 14th of April 2008. Nor does the lack of rain prevent the whole nation from celebrating the Thai Water Festival of Songkran. Songkran must rank as one of the most fun festivals in the world as millions of people douse each other with freezing cold water mixed with talcum powder. Make sure you're armed with a water Sun and an easygoing nature as you're going to get soaked.

There are so many activities to participate in on Phuket that you're literally spoilt for choice. Whether you're sedentary or energetic by nature. you'll find the perfect pastime on this dream island. Why not sit back and flick through these pages for information ranging from dining out to sailing ayacht. We hope you enjoy your stay here on Phuket and that our Guide helps make your holiday a happy and safe one.

Rounding Cape Prom Thep at the southernmost point you encounter the workings beach of Rawai where longtails, speedboats and some fishing boats anchor. Phuket Town is also located In this bay. Headlng further north up the eastern side of the island are Sapam and Po Bays - anchorage for many yachts. From this side, looking east you see many of the islands for which Phang Nga Bay is noted. The island is bisected north to south by highway 402. You can drive around the island on a circular note from Thalang. south through Phuket Town, around Rawai and up the west coast diverting occasionally into the roads which cross the mountains.
